– On Monday, at approximately 6:18 p.m., emergency services responded to a single-vehicle accident on Highway 41. A white Toyota truck traveling west-bound slid onto an embankment on the side of the highway and flipped onto its side. The incident occurred approximately five miles east of Morro Bay. The victim, a 19-year-old female driver, sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.

According to the victim, the truck had flipped when the tires slid out on a bed of gravel on the side of the road near a sharp curve. She said that another car had almost been hit by the flipped truck, however they managed to swerve and avoid collision.

Other drivers stopped and got out of their vehicles to assist the woman. An off-duty fireman and emergency medical technician were on scene and able to assist the woman stuck in her vehicle until emergency services arrived. Cal Fire arrived within 15 minutes and assisted the woman who was trapped in her vehicle. She was soon taken via ambulance to Twin Cities hospital.

This has been the second collision on Highway 41 this week, three days after another major collision occurred involving multiple vehicles, resulting in the death of one 77-year-old man from Templeton, and the injury of three other individuals – aged 24, 27, and 64 – from Atascadero, Los Osos, and Templeton, respectively.
