Twin Cities Community Hospital announced this week that it has hired a new chief nursing officer. Carol Howland will oversee nursing operations for north county hospital.

Howland is Board Certified in Nursing Administration and has over 29 years of progressive nursing experience, including key management positions from a number of hospitals ranging in size from 150-700 beds. Prior to working as Interim CNO at Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac, Michigan, she served as CNO/Vice President of Patient Services at Day Kimball Healthcare in Putnam, Connecticut and the Associate Chief Nursing Officer at Metro West Medical Center in Framingham, MA.

“Carol’s talent, leadership and perspective are readily apparent,” says Twin Cities CEO Mark Lisa. “She brings to us her vast knowledge gained from working and leading in several hospitals of various sizes. She’s a dynamite, and a welcomed addition to this team.”

With a BA in Biology, a BSN from the University of Rhode Island and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania, Howland began her career as a cardiovascular staff nurse, before moving into supervisory and managerial roles such as nursing director of critical care, administrative nursing director of quality and performance improvement, and nursing informatics. She has been published in peer reviewed literature and has taught nursing leadership as an assistant professor with Chamberlain College of Nursing for the past seven years.

“I am thrilled to be joining the staff of such a well-regarded and growing hospital here on the beautiful Central Coast,” Howland said. “It is an honor to work with Twin Cities Community Hospital and I look forward to serving this community.”

Twin Cities Community Hospital in Templeton is a 122-bed acute care hospital providing care for the communities in the north San Luis Obispo County region including Paso Robles and Atascadero, CA.
