On the afternoon of Saturday, April 12, in the meadow at Castoro Cellars, Templeton Chamber of Commerce will be one of over 200 exhibitors at the Annual Earth Day Food and Wine Festival. The Earth Day Food & Wine Weekend is a benefit event for the Vineyard Team. The Vineyard Team is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting valuable resources for our farms and communities. Proceeds from event support water conservation research and farm worker education.

The chamber booth will showcase the community and the products and services of our members, with a focus on food, plants, wine, olive oil, retail shopping, outdoor activities and tourist attractions. All chamber members are encouraged to drop off demonstration items or marketing materials at the chamber office anytime before April 9th, and they will be returned after the festival. We also love small give-a-way gifts for the attendees, if members would like to also drop off those types of items. We can’t guarantee everything will be used, but we promise to return any items to you by April 22nd. Help the chamber make our booth a wonderful representation of Templeton and attract visitors to our businesses that weekend or on subsequent visits to our area! For details or to volunteer at the festival, contact the chamber office staff at (805) 434-1789 or email admin@templetonchamber.com. Office hours are M-Th 9am-5pm and Fri 9am-1pm. For more information or to purchase tickets to this wonderful festival, visit www.earthdayfoodandwine.com.

Meet the new staff at the chamber

Gail Kudlac

Gail Kudlac

On Tuesday, March 18th, Gail Kudlac joined the Chamber staff as our new part time administrative assistant, assuming the duties from Jennifer Tallent, who has resigned to focus more on her family’s olive oil farm and event center, Groves on 41. Gail has lived in Templeton for over seven years and previously worked as the office assistant and event manager for the Atascadero Main Street Association, Gail is still active in organizing many community projects, including Atascadero Winter Wonderland and the Atascadero Wine Festival. We can’t wait to tap into her expertise here at the Templeton Chamber! Gail and her husband Marty have three grown children and she is a proud grandma in her spare time. Gail works Monday through Thursday 11am-3pm here at the office, so stop by and introduce yourself. We also welcomed two interns from Templeton High School in March, Payal and Megan, who are assisting our staff after school on administrative and customer service projects. Gail and Sarah look forward to mentoring these two young women as they prepare for graduation and entering the work force.

Mixer at Umpqua Bank was a big hit

Our last After Five Mixer was held on Thursday March 13th with a St. Patrick’s Day theme and a record number of revelers attended! Green beer, green sparking wine, delicious food and mini-cupcakes were enjoyed by guests, all courtesy of the managers of our local Umpqua Bank on Main Street. Thanks go to Mark, Dee, Michaela, Sarah and all the Umpqua staff for putting on such a great party for our members and their guests. A representative from Tesla Motors brought the Model S electric sedan down from the Bay Area, parking it on the street for viewing and a mixer attendee even bought the car that evening!

Next Up- After Five April Mixer will be hosted by Central Coast Sports Agility, located at 86 Gibson Rd. #10 in Templeton. This gym opened less than a year ago and has expanded three times since, specializing in sports speed and agility, strength training, group and individual personal training, and “Bootcamp” classes for adults and high school youth. Our next mixer is Thursday, April 10th from 5:30PM-7:00PM and is open to members and non-members.Bring your business cards and be ready to meet some new customers and see some old friends!
