Wake up Paso business breakfast to talk fracking, millennials, firefighting tactics

The Paso Robles Chamber of Commerce is once again hosting its quarterly Wake Up Paso breakfast on Tuesday, June 16, from 7:30 – 9 a.m., at the Culinary Arts Academy.

“We think of this event as providing food for your brain and your body,” said Chamber Director of Economic Development Pam Avila. “The goal of Wake Up Paso is to introduce topics that stir your thinking, while offering the opportunity to network and enjoy a great breakfast.”WAKE UP PASO

The June Wake Up Paso brings three topics delivered in a fast-paced format:

“Fracking- both sides of the story”
The nation-wide practice of “Fracking” (the process of injecting liquid at high pressure into subterranean rocks, boreholes, etc., so as to force open existing fissures and extract oil or gas) has become very controversial. President of the National Association of Royalty Owners Ed Hazard will speak on the positive aspects and Director of Talent Acquisition at CalPoly Samson Blackwell will speak on the negative aspects of fracking.

“Millennials are coming to a workplace near you”
Belinda Bassett, Senior Recruiter for ATA/SDI, will share the challenges that businesses face as the Millennial generation enters the workforce. Bassett will also provide tips on how to benefit from the talents and personalities of this group that will be 50 percent of the overall workforce by 2030.

“Technology is changing the way we fight fires”
Fire season is almost here and this year could be an especially difficult one for drought-enduring California. Mike Oberndorfer, a first responder and President of Wolfpack Solutions, will speak on how drones and other technology are changing the way fires are being fought in our states.

Seating is limited. Admission, including breakfast, is $20 for chamber members and $30 for non-members. Register at www.pasorobleschamber.com.
