Walk to the rock for food bank’s 6th annual Hunger Walk

Paso-robles-food-bankThe Food Bank Coalition’s 6th annual Hunger Walk will take place Saturday, Sept. 20, in Morro Bay. Registration is now available through the Food Bank’s website.

The food bank invites locals to come join the fun, bring the family, form a team, all while helping people in your community who are in need. The Food Bank can provide $10 worth of food for every $1 raised.

The fundraising efforts for the Hunger Walk will directly help the 44,000 residents in San Luis Obispo County who live near or below the federal poverty income level and as a result battle hunger. Many are working adults who do not earn enough to make ends meet. Almost 40 percent of the county’s hungry neighbors are children, and a large number are seniors who live on a fixed income. The Food Bank serves SLO residents in need of food through multiple direct programs such as, Healthy Food for Local Families and Lovin’ Lunchbox.

“By getting sponsored to walk in our Hunger Walk fundraiser you are helping the fight against hunger and poor nutrition,” says food bank CEO Carl Hansen. “Alleviating hunger is an investment in the quality of life and future of our community and world. Thank you for helping to make the lives of those we serve more successful.”
