What does Obamacare mean for locals?

Hospital offers seminars to explain new health insurance law

obamacareTEMPLETON – Twin Cities Community Hospital will host a series free public forums in October and November to help locals understand the new health insurance laws, enroll if eligible, and explain the options under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) affect them.

A team of local health insurance professionals along with hospital medical staff will present the educational seminars titled “Understanding the Individual Mandate to Purchase Health Insurance,” reviewing the important facets of the ACA, which mandates that every eligible citizen must have health insurance by January 1, 2014, or pay a penalty.

Open enrollment for health insurance programs begins October 1, 2013 and theses seminars will assist attendees in the enrollment process as well as aim to explain the eligibility requirements for subsidized health plans to the estimated 15,000 San Luis Obispo County citizens that stand to benefit from them.

Twin Cities Community Hospital’s CEO Mark Lisa says, “Twin Cities’ Family of Services has served as an ambassador for health reform and an advocate for our uninsured patients over the past few months. These seminars are designed to take the confusion out of the new law, as we hope to help locals navigate the plans, coverage, and enrollment processes.”
