Zombie Invasion SLO 5K event is Oct. 18

Zombie Invasion SLO is a 5K event for all ages and abilities at Camp San Luis Obispo set for Oct. 18. This inaugural run is a fundraiser for the Central Coast Autism Spectrum Center.

Zombie run SLOParticipants are not running against the clock, they are running for their lives from ghastly, flesh-eating, bloody zombies. Runners will use speed, agility, and their intact brains to avoid the soulless zombies.

Before the race begins, runners will be given flags. These flags represent the runners’ health. Zombies will try to take the flags and maybe eat the runners’ brains. If a runner loses all of their health flags, they die and the zombies win.

Three colors of flags are available to choose from so that all abilities can participate. Zombies prefer some colors more than others so walkers and special needs children and adults can have an equally good time. A shorter route is also available.

There will be a series of man-made obstacles for to complete if desired. There will be a starting line, and a finish line, but what happens in between is up to the runners. Those who “survive” will be entered into a drawing for prizes.

All proceeds will go directly to the Central Coast Autism Spectrum Center (CCASC). CCASC provides year round programs and services for children and adults with autism on the Central Coast.
