High school students celebrate the city’s quasquicentennial with new art installation

The Paso Robles City Library has a new art installation, produced entirely by Paso Robles High School students to honor the city’s 125th Anniversary.

The student-produced tile art installation is located on the south wall of the library near the entrance doors, with another smaller installation commemorating the students and advisors who assisted with the project.

The public is invited to witness the unveiling at a brief on June 18 at 2 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.

A few facts about the project:

  • Proposed by PRHS Principal Randy Nelson
  • Organized by PRHS ceramics teacher Joshua Gwiazda
  • Funded by the 125th Anniversary Committee, led by Dee Lacey and Frank Mecham
  • Assistance with the metal frame provided by PRHS welding instructor Justin Pickard
  • Student designed and student produced:
  • 10th grader Lindsay Svinth created the design.
  • 11th grader Riley Smith made almost all of the tiles by hand
  • Several PRHS students painted the tiles
