16-year-old teen killed in car accident

Oscar Silva Lizarraga dies in rollover crash

The California Highway Patrol reports a Shandon teenager was killed in a single vehicle accident early Sunday morning. The car crash happened at about 3 a.m. on San Juan Road in Shandon, CA.

Atascadero High School student Oscar Silva Lizarraga, a 16-year-old in his junior year, was driving on the southbound side of the road when he drifted off the road and onto the dirt shoulder.

The CHP reports says the teen then over-corrected, causing his 1997 Ford F250 to rollover. He was not wearing a seatbelt, and was ejected from the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The CHP doesn’t believe alcohol or drugs were involved, but fatigue may have played a role.
