75th Annual Cats and Hounds Fall Football Classic Nov. 7 

cats vs houndsThe Paso Robles Bearcats will take on the Atascadero Greyhounds in a PAC 5 Athletic League football game this Friday, Nov. 7. The game will take place at Atascadero’s Memorial Stadium, on the campus of Atascadero High School, with a kick-off time of 4 p.m. for junior varsity and 7:30 p.m. for the varsity teams. The varsity game time has been changed to 7:30 to accommodate Fox Sports West’s selection of the game for live streaming on their nationally-known Prep Zone website.

The Bearcats (9-0), ranked #1 in the latest CIF Southern Section Football Northern Division poll, will face the #8 ranked Atascadero Greyhounds (7-2) in the final PAC 5 League game of the year. The Greyhound’s losses came at the hands of #2 ranked San Clemente (Southwest Division) and a close loss last week at Arroyo Grande, the #4 ranked team in the Northern Division.

The Greyhounds will be led by junior running back Marc Martin. Through last week, Martin has accumulated 909 yards on 106 carries for an 8.5 yards per carry average. In the air, the Greyhounds will rely on Senior Tommy Carr who has passed for 999 yards on 100 attempts.

In Paso Robles, Coach Rich Schimke, in his 16th year as head coach of the Bearcats, will bring a Bearcat team which maintains a balanced attack. Junior quarterback Justin Davis has 99 completions in 142 attempts for 1693 yards in the air. His favorite target is Senior Bailey Gaither who has caught 45 of those passes for 1,006 yards. Leading the ground attack, sophomore Christian Erickson has compiled 1,377 rushing years on 194 carries.

Overall, the Bearcats hold a 51-20-3 record against the Greyhounds in a rivalry that began in 1920.
