Bearcats to host Palmdale’s Falcons in 2nd round of CIF play-offs

The Paso Robles High School Bearcats, with a 10-1 overall record, 3-1 Pac 5 League, will host the Palmdale High School Falcons, with a 10-1 overall record, 7-0 Golden League, in a second round, Northern Division, CIF Southern Section football game on Friday, Nov. 21, at Paso Robles’ War Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m..

The Falcons, averaging 381 yards of total offense, defeated Pioneer Valley High School of Santa Maria 31-7 in their first round game last Friday. They are led by running back Dameon Baber who has rushed for 992 yards in 137 carries, and has 15 touchdowns for the season. For the Falcons’ passing attack, junior quarterback Nathaniel Poppy has completed 52 passes on 94 attempts for 922 yards.

The Bearcats, currently ranked 3rd in the Max Preps State Playoff poll in Division 3, are coming off a 42-14 win in the first round playoff game against Royal High School of Simi Valley. They will bring a potent offense averaging 404 yards per game. Leading the way is junior quarterback Justin Davis averaging 193 passing yards per game. Senior Bailey Gaither has been his primary target, hauling in 52 receptions for 1,146 yards over the course of the year.

If the Bearcats advance to the next round they will face the winner of the Lompoc/Arroyo Grande game.

Due to CIF regulations, Bearcat season tickets will not be honored. Tickets can be purchased at the Paso Robles High School Athletic Office or at the gate. Season ticket and reserved seating holders can contact Kaye Nay at 769-1500 Ext. 50050.
