Bearcats sports update 

Bearcats sports update from Paso Robles High School Director of Athletic Services Anthony Morales.

–These past two weeks we have had some exciting results from our PRHS cross country programs.

On Thursday November 15th the Bearcat Cross-Country traveled to Woodward park in Fresno to compete at CIF Central Section Championships.Bearcat sports paso robles high school

Varsity Boys came out on top in Division 1 and placed 1st with 65 points out of 13 schools. Three of the Bearcats finished in the top 10. Damian Gavilan placed 2nd with a time of 15:27, Pablo Cortes placed 4th with a time of 15:42, Steven Scruggs placed 8th with a time of 16:00, Jason Scruggs placed 14th with a time of 16:14, Michael Hernandez placed 37th with a time of 16:58, Caelan Casa placed 71st with a time of 18:08 and Ethan Short placed 72nd with a time of 18:08.

Varsity Girls performed well, placing 3rd in Division 2 behind Monache and San Luis Obispo. Placing in the top 10 was Madeline Loff in 6th with a time of 19:32, next in for the Bearcats was Charlotte Castelli in 11th with a time of 19:53, Clara Lundy placed 25th with a time of 20:36, Jill Schlickeiser placed 30th with a time of 20:44, Emily Mathien placed 40th with a time of 21:06, Grace Chamberlain placed 42nd with a time of 21:11, and Jaiden Anguiano placed 51st with a time of 21:37.

The Boys travel to the State meet on Saturday Nov. 24 at Woodward Park in Fresno. Madeline Loff and Charlotte Castelli will be moving on to the state meet.

On Saturday, the PRHS Cross Country teams finished their season off strong by competing against the best teams and individual runners in California at the State Meet at Woodward Park in Fresno.

Concluding a great month of performances that include winning the SLO County Meet, the Mountain League, and the CIF Central Section Division 1 Championship, the PRHS boys team placed 9th out of 22 teams in Division 1 at the State Meet. They ran their fastest team time of the year in the race with 1:20:02.

In California, more than 1,000 high schools participate in cross country and the boys had one of the top 20 performances in the state.

Individually, Damian Gavilan placed 13th (15:23), Pablo Cortes 25th (15:36), Steven Scruggs 32nd (15:44), Jason Scruggs 96th (16:22), Michael Hernandez 156th (16:58), Caelan Casa 182nd (17:51), and Ethan Short 184th (18:17).

We had two girls run as individuals at the State Meet, with Madie Loff running her fastest time of the season today. Loff placed 90th (19:29) and Charlotte Castelli placed 147th (20:21) out of 203 total athletes competing in Division II. The two girls gained valuable experience for future seasons competing at the highest level of competition in the state.

On Monday November 19, 2018 (during the break) Varsity men’s soccer defeated Nipomo 3-0. Varsity women’s soccer defeated Nipomo 9-1.

Tomorrow is our first 2nd home game for women’s basketball as we host Santa Maria HS. Hope to see you in the Gil Asa Gym. Go Bearcats!
