Bearcats suffer loss to Sierra Canyon High 

Bearcats football paso robles–The Paso Robles Bearcats suffered their first loss of the season Friday night. The Bearcats losing to Sierra Canyon High School, a private high school in Chatsworth. The final score was 50-36.

The Trailblazers jumped out to an early lead. Sophomore southpaw quarterback Johnny Hawkins threw quick strikes to several receivers as the Trailblazers jumped to an early 36-7 lead. The Bearcats scored just before halftime to narrow the difference to 36-14.

The Bearcats outscored the Trailblazers in the second half, but two Blazer touchdowns in the final quarter sealed the victory.

The Trailblazers were aided by the Mission Prep Royals. The Royals were scheduled to host Sierra Canyon a week ago, but they forfeited the game. Instead of coaching against MCP, members of the Blazer coaching staff scouted the Bearcats. The forfeiture also gave the Sierra Canyon players an opportunity to rest a week.

With the loss, the Bearcats fall to 5-1 for the season. The Trailblazers improve to 7-0.

The Bearcats open Pac-5 play next Friday night. They’re hosting Arroyo Grande for Homecoming.
