Bovino Vineyards celebrates the grand opening of Cafe Bovino

–Bovino Vineyards recently announces the grand opening of Café Bovino. To celebrate the milestone, the café will offer their full tapas menu with live music 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21.

Bovino Vineyard’s owner, Dan Souza, had a vision of creating a place where people could enjoy wine and food with friends and family. “It gives me great pleasure to see groups of people talking and laughing on the deck overlooking the vineyard, this property is so beautiful it needs to be shared. In order to encourage guests to extend their visit beyond a wine tasting, having an executive chef on-site is important. When I met Jeff Puckett, I knew he was the right man for job. His talent at showcasing flavors in the wine by pairing them with seasonal food items, along with his ability to cater events, made him an ideal fit.”

For the past few weeks, the café has offered food service during tasting room hours to test the menu and refine the offering. “The response to the shared tapas items has been even better than we anticipated,” says Susan West, Operations Manager. “Guests tend to start with one or two items and then continue to try additional items as they enjoy the wine and food experience. We have only made a few minor adjustments to our menu, including the addition of a weekly special that tends to be a hearty item that can be ordered as a standalone lunch item.”

Popular items, such as sliders with the chef’s signature fries, will continue to pop up on the weekly specials. For the grand opening, Chef Jeff will be offering an Asiago, Gruyere and Romano Mac ‘n Cheese with Bacon & Jalapeño Toppers. Other items found on the tapas menu include: a cheese & charcuterie platter, rustic fries with a flight of sauces, smoked ham croquettes, New York steak crostini, smoked pork belly with Romesco, caramelized onion jam and bacon bruschetta as well a couple of dessert items.

The tasting room opened earlier this year and has plans to increase the number of events offered, including vineyard tours with lunch, and winemaker dinners. In addition to public events, the facility is available for private events with Chef Jeff creating a custom menu to delight attendees.
The evening before the grand opening, Sept. 20, 5:30-7:30 p.m., the winery will be hosting the Rhone Rangers’ International #GrenacheDay Tasting. Twenty-four wineries will be pouring their flagship grenache wines and guests may sample Chef Jeff’s pairings. Live music by the Blimp Pilots will add to the festivity of this grenache celebration. Tickets are $35/person and can be purchased at https://grenacheday2019.bpt.me/.
