Caltrans closing lanes on Hwy 46 West 

highway closingCaltrans will perform highway maintenance on Hwy. 46 West from State Route 1 to Vineyard Drive for a four-day period beginning Monday, June 2. Motorists will encounter lane closures in the following locations:

  • Alternating lanes of Hwy. 46 West will be closed from State Route 1 to approximately six miles east of State Route 1 on Monday, June 2 from 8 am until 5 pm.
  • Alternating lanes of Hwy. 46 West will be closed from six miles east of State Route 1 to Santa Rosa Creek Road/Old Creek Road on Tuesday, June 3 from 8 am until 5 pm.
  • Alternating lanes of Hwy. 46 West will be closed from Santa Rosa Creek/ Old Creek Road to Vineyard Drive on Wednesday, June 4 from 8 am to 5 pm and Thursday, June 5 from 8 am to 5 pm.

Motorists will encounter one-way reversing traffic control within each approximately 6-mile section of highway which will be performed separately. Motorists can expect major delays from 45 minutes to one hour and should allow extra time for any trips planned on Hwy. 46 West between State Route 1 and U.S. Highway 101.

Motorists may choose to detour via Hwy. 41 from Atascadero to Morro Bay. Electronic Message Boards will be activated to inform the public about this closure.
This fog seal project is designed to improve and maintain the surface of the highway.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway work zones.
