Children’s Museum hosts blood drive in honor of Maddy Gonzalez

Blood drive

Diagnosed in the fall of 2013 with acute lymphocytic leukemia, Maddy travels frequently with her family – mom, dad, and older sister – to Santa Barbara  for treatments.

The Paso Robles Children’s Museum and the Cancer Support Community are holding a blood drive bone marrow donor registration event on Saturday, April 26, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. All members of the community are invited to come and donate blood with United Blood Services and register with Be the Match bone marrow donor program. The event is to help raise awareness and support local girl Maddy Gonzalez in her fight against cancer.

“Please join us as we give back to the community by supporting Maddy Gonzalez, United Blood Services and Be The Match,” says Museum Director Jennifer Smith. “All donors will receive a free family play pass good for one day of learn-through-play at the museum.” Refreshments are being donated by Umpqua Bank and Bonita McGonagill.

The blood drive will be at The Children’s Museum at the Paso Robles Volunteer Firehouse, 623 13th Street Paso Robles, CA. For more information call (805) 238-7432. Donations can be made directly to Madelyn Gonzalez at any Golden One Credit Union.
