City offering new acrylic art classes for kids 

–Join local artist Candace Rae for a series of new “Let’s Paint!” art classes for children at Centennial Park beginning Tuesday, July 16. Students will use canvas, acrylic paint, brushes and mixed media supplies while learning how to paint using basic techniques.

All classes are structured for students ages 6 to 14 years. Each class has a $10 registration fee along with a materials fee to be paid to the instructor at the class.

A Day at the Beach — a mixed media painting class that will include sand. Tuesday, July 16. $10 + $15 materials fee.

Rain Forest Friends — Visit the rain forest during this mixed media painting class that will include feathers. Tuesday, July 23. $10 + $15 materials fee.

A Basket Full of Floral — Paint a bicycle with live succulents in their baskets using mixed media techniques. Wednesday, July 31. $10 + $18 materials fee.

Let’s Paint Together — This parent & me class on Wednesday, August 7 will use life under the sea as the inspiration. $10 + $35 supply fee (pricing is for two participants).

Let’s Paint with Nature — Use natural objects like leaves, acorns and branches to create an abstract work of art on Wednesday, August 14. $10 + $15 materials fee.

Advance registration for each class is strongly recommended. To register online visit and search “Let’s Paint.” In-person registration is available Monday through Friday from noon-5 p.m. at the Centennial Park Registration Desk located at 600 Nickerson Drive.
