2-percent assessment will be charged to all visitors in Paso Robles

–At the most recent Paso Robles City Council meeting, the council voted to form the Paso Robles Tourism Improvement District. The Travel Paso Robles Alliance had previously requested the council transition the current tourism and business improvement district into a true destination marketing organization, or DMO, to improve the marketing of the community to potential tourists.

The DMO, as proposed, would be a private, not-for-profit organization funded by the 2-percent assessment charged to all visitors. The council approved the transition, to be effective July 1, 2017, and also approved the inclusion of all lodging establishments (including short-term rentals, campgrounds, and RV parks, in addition to hotels and motels) in the new district, with the assessment now to be paid by all of the establishments. The governing board will including representatives of lodging establishments, as well as of other members of the tourism industry.
