The San Luis Obispo County Clerk-Recorder’s north county office is relocating to the second floor of the new Atascadero Library located at 6555 Capistrano Avenue and will be open to the public at 7:30 a.m. on June 30.

The new office is just across the parking lot from the previous location. The clerk-recorder is the first county office to move into the second floor of the Atascadero Library building, aptly named the North County Service Center. The San Luis Obispo County Assessor and Planning department will relocate to the service center in the coming weeks and be open to the public sometime in July.

The county clerk-recorder’s office has had a presence in Atascadero for over twenty-four years, yet many residents from the surrounding communities are not aware that they may conduct clerk-recorder business in Atascadero. The office is a full service operation and customers may record and search real property records, apply for a marriage license, obtain copies of birth, death, or marriage certificates, file fictitious business name statements and notary oaths, and pick-up or drop-off vote-by-mail ballots during the weeks preceding an election.

A limited number of candidate appointments will be available during the November General Election nomination period and there are plans to conduct wedding ceremonies in the near future. The office is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and can be reached at (805) 461-4061 during those hours.
