County getting economic update

Paso Robles and Atascadero chambers of commerce hosting annual event

The Paso Robles Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce will host the annual Central Coast Economic 2014 Mid-Year Update. The program will feature keynote speaker Chris Thornberg, founding principal with Beacon Economics. Beacon Economics is an independent research and consulting firm dedicated to delivering accurate, insightful, and objectively-based economic analysis.

This research enables businesses to make informed decisions about investment, growth, revenue, and policy. Guest Speaker, Don Vilfer, founder of Califorensics and former FBI Agent in charge of computer crimes and forensics will cover the threats facing business and governments today, what to do to protect your data and how to respond to a compromise. The Mid-Year Update is hosted by the Atascadero and Paso Robles’ Chambers of Commerce and is a follow up the November Forecast, which annually attracts over 400 business and community leaders.

“The Mid-Year Update gives us an opportunity to check in on how business is faring, and gain information to help create successful year end results,” said Dick Willhoit, of the Central Coast Economic Forecast Board of Directors. “The old routine of taking a pulse on business once a year no longer works in our present day, high-speed marketplace,” he concluded.

The Mid-Year Update is made possible in part through a grant from PG&E. The program will take place at the Paso Robles Event Center on Friday, June 6, 2014. Doors open for continental breakfast and networking at 7:30 a.m. The program will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 11:00 a.m. Tickets are $65 per person.
