Cuesta College to graduate 724 students this week 

Cuesta College graduation ceremonyCuesta College will graduate 724 students at the 49th annual commencement ceremony on Friday, May 23, 2014.

The Cuesta College 2014 graduating class, which includes students who have completed degree requirements in fall 2013, spring 2014 and summer 2014 semesters, earned a total of 900 degrees. This is an approximate 10 percent increase from 2013 in both degrees awarded and students graduated.

Students from four international countries, including South Korea, Taiwan, France and Canada, and nine states, including Washington, Oregon, Ohio, North Carolina, Indiana, Idaho, Iowa, Hawaii and Colorado, are among the graduating class. More than 40 percent of the 2014 graduates come from local high schools – 310 in total.

The graduates range in age from 17 to 67, and degrees will be bestowed upon 297 males and 423 females. Of the graduates, 186 earned honors or high honors by achieving a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, including 15 that earned a perfect 4.0.

Cuesta’s 49th general commencement ceremony will start at 3:00 p.m. on May 23 at the Cuesta gymnasium on the San Luis Obispo Campus. The graduate lineup will begin at 2:45 p.m. and doors open for seating at 2:00 p.m. Guest RSVP and tickets are not required.

Also on May 23, graduates of the registered nursing program will be honored at a pinning ceremony at 11:00 a.m. in the gymnasium on the SLO Campus.

The general commencement ceremony will stream live online at http://academic.cuesta.edu/pim/cuestacommencement/commencement.html and the registered nursing ceremony will stream live online at http://academic.cuesta.edu/pim/cuestarnceremony/. The ceremonies will also be broadcast live and replayed on Charter Cable Channel 19.
