Dan Dow elected district attorney
With 53 percent of the vote, Dan Dow was elected San Luis Obispo County District Attorney in Tuesday’s primary election.
Dow, a deputy DA, bested a superior in the office, Tim Covello, who garnered 45 percent of the vote. Covello had been backed by outgoing DA Gerry Shea. Dow was backed by about two dozen other deputy DAs in the office. He is an army veteran and eight-year prosecutor.
“As your district attorney, I will ensure that our beautiful County remains one of the greatest places in America to live, work, and raise a family,” Dow wrote on his campaign website. “I want our children to be safe while they play outside, our businesses to prosper free of vandalism and theft, and our residents to experience the beauty of our region without worry about crime.”
Dow will begin the four-year position, which pays $190,000 a year, in January.
