First 22 megawatts from new solar plant online
CALIFORNIA VALLEY — The first 22 megawatts of power from the solar power plants on the Carrizo Plain are now on the grid and serving California’s energy needs.
A ceremony took place at California Valley Solar Ranch Wednesday to commemorate the switching on of the first solar array, as construction continued in the background toward a late-2013 completion date for the full 250 megawatts. Construction began in September, 2011.
