A celebration of life will be held for 4-year-old Soren Hamon March 22 at Life Community Church in Templeton. Soren, the son of Shiloh and John “Jay” Hamon III of Paso Robles, passed away Sunday, a week after a near-drowning accident. He spent his final days surrounded by loved ones at Children’s Hospital in Fresno.

On March 8, Soren accidentally slipped underwater at a River Oaks community hot tub. He was resuscitated after four and a half minutes underwater and taken to the hospital.

There has been an outpouring of community support for the Hamon family in the form of prayers, well wishes and financial contributions. A total of $22,136 has been donated by 172 people through gofundme.com to help cover Soren’s medical bills.

Shiloh thanked everyone for the support: “We love all of you and thank you for your prayers and love,” she wrote. “We have felt it in abundance this week. We are in awe of our community and the people around the world loving us.”

Soren’s grandfather, Paso Robles City Councilman John Hamon II, sent a letter of thanks to the city’s emergency responders, who rushed Soren to Twin Cities Hospital before he was flown to Fresno. “Please share with your staff how overwhelmed and grateful John III and Shiloh, Marjorie and I are along with all the entire Hamon family with our police, fire, and ambulance staff’s personal devotion and commitment to the work that helps to save many lives and property from unfortunate disasters every day. We especially want to thank the hands that were involved in this horrible event and the effort they took to keep our Soren alive.”

Soren will be remembered for his fun-loving spirit, big beautiful smile and adorable dimples.

Soren is survived by his parents John “Jay” and Shiloh Hamon; his older brother Jack and little sister Selah; grandparents Marjorie and John Hamon II; grandparents Susan and Roger Gray; grandmother Jerri Clements; and great grandmothers Bettie Triol and Eva Hamon.

A celebration of life ceremony begins at 10 a.m. on March 22 at Life Community Church in Templeton, 3770 Ruth Way. The family welcomes friends to join them for a lunch after the service. Child care and a nursery will be provided by the church on location.
