Highway 41 completely closed Oct. 22

Detour routes around the closed portion of Highway 41.

Highway 41 will be fully closed in both directions from the Highway 46 East/Highway 41 Interchange in Cholame to State Route 33 in Kings County on Wednesday, Oct. 22 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for highway maintenance work which will include mowing, shoulder repair, sweeping, pavement crack sealing and delineation repairs.

Motorists may use the following detours during this one-day project:

  • Motorists headed northbound will continue on Highway 46 East to State Route 33 to Highway 41.
  • Motorists headed southbound on Highway 41 will detour to State Route 33 to Highway 46 East.
  • Kecks Road at Hwy. 46 East will be closed to all motorists during this road work.

This detour will add an additional 27 miles/minutes to the regular commute for a total of a 50 mile detour. Message boards have been activated on Highway 41 in Cholame and Kettleman City to advise motorists of this closure and detours.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down while driving through highway construction zones.
