Highway 46 East striping improvement project begins next week

–A project to replace the roadway striping and pavement markers will begin on Highway 46 East on Sunday, June 2.

Motorists will encounter lane closures in each direction of Hwy. 46 East from west of Lucy Brown Road to the Kern County Line Sunday night through Friday morning during the overnight hours between 8 p.m. until 6 a.m.

Motorists can expect minimal delays during this roadwork.

These improvements will also take place on Hwy’s 46, 41 and 166 East in San Luis Obispo County and Hwy’s 154 and 166 in Santa Barbara County. Details on construction at these locations will be announced when the dates and times are certain.

The contractor for this $4 million project is the Crisp Company of Bloomington. This project is expected to be completed this August.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway construction zones.
