–Law Estate Wines of Paso Robles recently traveled to the Los Angeles area to pour a variety of their wines for the LA Wine Writers, at the organization’s first wine-paired luncheon of 2017. The monthly events are held at Café Del Rey in Marina Del Rey, California. It was a picture perfect day in the marina with billowy clouds and blue skies complemented with great food and great Paso Robles wines.

The menu, created by Executive Chef David Vilchez along with Brian Cousins, general manager, began with The Nines (100-percent Grenache-2012), paired with a roasted fennel flatbread of sun-dried tomatoes, Kalamata olives, dried cranberries and manchego cheese. That was just an appetite teaser. Next up was Law’s 2013 Sagacious (a blend of grenache, mourvedre and syrah-2013), with an herb crusted NZ lamb loin in a prune and porcini mushroom sauce, followed with a dish of grilled octopus and forbidden rice, blackberry and squid ink yogurt, with the new (and not yet released) 2013 Prima (100-percent mourvedre-2013). The final course was a coffee spiced filet en croute with blue cheese sauce, perfectly paired with the First Tracks (petit verdot, syrah, cabernet sauvignon-2013). LAW wines

The luncheon gave Law a unique opportunity to showcase a selection of their award winning wines to an appreciative group of Southern California food and wine lovers, demonstrating the quality and versatility of Paso Robles wines.

Representing Law were two multi-generation Paso Robles natives, Adelaida (Addie) Pitts, Law’s Tasting Room Manager, a third generation local, (and so “home grown” that she is named after the Adelaida AVA) and Megan (Maggie) Boneso, who likewise grew up in Paso and went to school with Addie. Their knowledge of the area, terroir, wines and enthusiasm made for a tasty afternoon, again showcasing the exemplary wines of Paso Robles. Last year, Jeff Freeland of Oso Libre Winery in Paso Robles was invited to participate in a similar wine paired luncheon.New Zealand Lamb Loin

A visit to Law Estate Wines should be on every wine lover’s list. They offer a unique tasting (by appointment only) in their beautiful, state of the art facility.

A special Thank You to Café Del Rey for hosting Law Estate Wines of Paso Robles and putting together such a delicious afternoon, and of course, to Addie and Maggie for providing a selection of their wines to an enthusiastic gathering of Southern California wine writers.
