Library holds rocket launch for kids in City Park

Library-rocket-launchPaso Robles City Library summer reading program participants had a blast this Saturday with a rocket launch in City Park. Children designed and decorated two liter soda bottle rockets at the library on Thursday, July 31 then gathered at the park over the weekend to watch them soar up to 60 feet in the air.

On hand to assist was Harley Voss (pictured right), a local Cub Scout leader who runs a similar rocket launch program with his troop. The summer reading program will continue until Saturday, August 23.

This week’s activities at the library include a physics program “Does Matter Matter?” on Wednesday, August 6 at 2 PM for 10-18 year olds (pre-register by calling the library at 805-237-3870) and Ooey, Gooey Science on Thursday, August 7 at noon at the Library and 3 PM at the Library Study Center (3600 Oak St.).

The recommended age for Ooey, Gooey Science is children four and older. Free tickets are required for the noon program, and are available 30 minutes prior to the program at the Library Children’s Desk. No ticket is required for the 3 PM Study Center program.
