Little cowboys and cowgirls kick off Pioneer Day
Leave your pocketbook at home and join your neighbors in downtown Paso Robles on Saturday, October 11
Grab a friend and join in on the fun at the 84th Annual Pioneer Day on Saturday, Oct. 11. The day kicks off with the Children’s Pet Show and the Little Cowboy and Cowgirl and the Pioneer boy and girl contests followed by the Pioneer Day Parade.
- 8 a.m. — Downtown City Park Gazebo — Bring your pet in costume. Prizes will be awarded for Best Look-alike, Most Colorful, Best Behaved, and Most Unique
- 8:30 a.m. — The Little Cowboy & Cowgirl & Pioneer boy & girl contests begin. Categories are: Little Cowgirl ages 0-3, Little Cowboy ages 0-3, Little Pioneer Girl ages 0-3, Little Pioneer boy ages 0-3, Cowgirl ages 4-6, Cowboy ages 4-6, Pioneer girl ages 4-6 and Pioneer boy ages 4-6. Parents, please register your child for the appropriate category on Saturday morning.
- 10 a.m. — The Pioneer Day Parade through downtown Paso Robles starts at 16th and Spring Street and ends surrounding the Downtown Paso Robles City Park.
The parade is fun for the entire family. Bring your favorite lawn chairs, hats and sunscreen and plan on spending a memorable day with friends, family and neighbors. Expect to see antique tractors, horse- drawn wagons, marching bands, mounted equestrian groups, youth groups, church groups, civic groups, floats, vintage cars, fire engines, military vehicles and more. Oh — and did we mention tractors?
Pioneer Day participants will join the with the City of Paso Robles and help celebrate the 125th Anniversary of the city’s founding. Activities will take place throughout the day — and the entire day is free — leave your pocketbook at home! In addition to the above-listed activities, the day will include: Antique/Classic car judging, free bean feed in the park, opportunities to tour the Carnegie Library/ Historical Museum, the Whiskerino contest, a band concert,a horseshoe pitching contest, and more.
