Local business owner Stephen Barstow dies at 73

Stephen A. Barstow, Sr.

Stephen A. Barstow, Sr., 73, succumbed to cancer and passed away in his sleep at home on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014 in Paso Robles.

He was born Apr. 13, 1940 to Oliver & Betty Barstow. Steve is survived by his wife Karen Barstow, his brother George Barstow, his children Steve Barstow Jr., Chris Barstow, Heather Barstow-Harless, his grandchildren Alexis Barstow, Taylor Barstow and his pup Kia.

Steve’s favorite thing to do was deep sea fishing. He also loved golf, being outdoors, trips to Mexico, barbequing, family gatherings and socializing with folks of all types. He attended Hoover High School in Glendale and was a successful businessman and owned multiple businesses in Southern California. They were SABco Business Forms in Glendale CA, The Villa Italia restaurant and bar in Glendale, CA, where the Galleria now stands, The Sportsmen’s Pub & Grill in Rialto CA, The Sportsmen’s Pub in Paso Robles, CA, and a Wine Barrel Planter business called the Trading Post off the 101 freeway at Vineyard Drive in Paso Robles.

He was outgoing, very active and had a good heart. At Thanksgiving, Christmas and other holidays, he and Karen would prepare free meals at the Sportsman’s Pub for folks who didn’t have family to celebrate with.
