The program has had more than 1,035 participants in 10 cities nationwide, and Creelman was one of several business owners recently accepted into the program. Creelman, Inc., based out of Paso Robles, CA and Los Angeles, provides technical services to cost-effectively support projects in the transportation sector, as well as municipal and private organizations.

Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses is a philanthropic initiative, launched in November 2009, to assist small businesses with limited resources in creating jobs and economic opportunity. The goal is to help 10,000 small businesses by providing assistance in a range of areas, such as business and management education and mentoring, access to capital and philanthropic business support.

According to Goldman Sachs, small businesses have generated 64 percent of net new jobs over the past 15 years. They represent 99.7 percent of all employer firms, hire 40 percent of high tech workers, and produce 13 times more patents per employee than large patenting firms, according to the Small Business Administration.

Only businesses that have been in business at least two years, have at least four employees, and have revenues between $150,000 and $4 million annually are eligible for the program. Creelman, Inc. met the criteria, so Lynn Creelman decided to apply.

“This Program is the gold standard for a mini-Executive MBA,” Creelman said. “Using our own businesses as case studies really brought the material home.”

The program is currently operating in Chicago, Cleveland, Houston, Long Beach, Los Angeles, New Orleans, New York and Salt Lake City.

Creelman, Inc. is certified as a Woman-owned, Small, and/or Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (WBE/DBE/SBE) in multiple states. The small company has been awarded the Local Business Preference designation by the City of Los Angeles.
