Paso Robles resident Gregg Wangard received a special honor from Visit San Luis Obispo County this week. He was given the Tourism Ambassador Award Friday, Jan. 17 at the Annual Tourism Vision Workshop at the Cal Poly Performing Arts Center in San Luis Obispo.

Chef Wangard leads the culinary operations at Marisol at The Cliffs Resort in Pismo Beach. His “Farm-to-Table” inspired cuisine is unique in that he uses produce from over 30 local farmers throughout the seasons.

“Living on the Central Coast is truly a chefs dream,” said Wangard. “Our community offers an abundance of recourses, from local farms, fisherman and ranchers. I feel honored to tell their story through my cuisine”.

Wangard is also recognized in the community for his work in promoting a healthy lifestyle amongst the youth. Additionally he is an active participant in Sunset SAVOR the Central Coast, as well as San Luis Obispo County Restaurant Month.

Visit San Luis Obispo County welcomed tourism professionals and industry guest speakers Friday afternoon to discuss the progress and direction of the tourism industry in San Luis Obispo County. Presentations included speakers from Visit California, Visit San Luis Obispo County and the Coraggio Group.
