Local print newspaper reports paid distribution of just 2,760 weekly copies 

Paso Robles Press circulation distribution subscriptions

–The Paso Robles Press print newspaper, not to be confused with this online newspaper, Paso Robles Daily News, recently reported its paid distribution at just 2,760 copies weekly. The Paso Robles Daily News has 5,654 daily email subscribers, and recently reported record-breaking site traffic exceeding 260,000 monthly page views, and average daily views of 8,819.

Since its launch in 2012, the Paso Robles Daily News has excelled at local news coverage with over 20,000 published web pages, compared to 2,080 on the Paso Robles Press website, as reported by Northcutt, an Internet analytics company.

In a Statement of Ownership and Management and Circulation, the Paso Robles Press reports total paid distribution at 2,760 copies average per issue over the last 12 months. Of that, 1,500 are classified as mailed in-county paid subscriptions. The statement is required to be filed by the US Postal Service to receive special postage discounts for mailing newspapers. The Paso Robles Press printed the statement in its Oct. 30, 2019 edition.

The Paso Robles Press has been a daily, twice-weekly, and is currently a weekly newspaper, published Wednesdays, in North County San Luis Obispo, Calif.

Until recently, the Paso Robles Press was owned by News Media Corp. of Rochelle, Il. This year, News Media Corp. sold its California newspapers, including the Paso Robles Press, Atascadero News, King City Rustler, Greenfield News, Soleded Bee, Gonzales Tribune, and the Watsonville Register-Pajaronian.

The local papers were sold Aug. 31 to the owners of Colony Media of Atascadero, the other papers were sold to the operators of the Santa Cruz Good Times and Gilroy Dispatch.

The newspaper industry as a whole has seen declining circulation and ad revenues, as consumer demand shifts online for news, information, and entertainment.  A study released by Google says that 90-percent of all daily media interactions are screen-based, leaving just 10-percent to printed newspapers, magazines, and radio.
