Melody Lynne Mathews dies peacefully at 41
Melody Lynne Mathews, 41, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 1 with her family by her side, after a six-year battle with cancer.
Melody was raised in Santa Maria, moved to Paso Robles, and then Templeton in 2004. She enjoyed a career as a medical assistant working at pediatric offices and was a member of the ladies auxiliary of the veterans of foreign wars. What defined her and what she cherished most of all was being mother of her two children. Throughout her struggle she never let her children miss out on any activity or sport they wanted to be involved in.
Melody endured countless operations, chemotherapy, and radiation only to continue with a smile on her face and a strong will to live. She never gave in to cancer and was an inspiration to others going through the same struggle. She lived life to fullest, had a beautifully personality and an infectious smile. She truly will be missed.
Melody is survived by her two children Tasha, 11, and Alexis, 7, her loving husband Scott, her mother, father, sisters and brothers and too many others to list.
Melody is preceded in death by her grandparents and father-in-law. She and her family appreciated everything the community did for her during her struggle and is holding a celebration of life and all are invited. It will be held at Castoro Cellars on Feb. 21 from 1 – 5 p.m. with a tribute to be held at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers please donate to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation at https://donations.bcrfcure.org/donate-now with a Tribute to Melody Mathews.
