PASO ROBLES POLICE CHIEF FINALIST WITHDRAWS

The City has been informed by Manny Guaderrama that he is withdrawing his candidacy for the position of Paso Robles Police Chief. He cites that his decision is for personal reasons, partially involving matters related to compensation, including his wife having to shut down her business.

Guaderrama was chosen as the finalist for the Police Chief position after an extensive recruitment and interview process. The final pre-employment steps were underway when Guaderrama regretfully informed the city of his decision.

Mayor Duane Picanco said, “We are certainly disappointed, but we will now focus on restarting the search process, and making sure our Police Department gets the support they need.”

Avery Associates assisted the City in the Police Chief search and per their professional service agreement will reinitiate that search without additional service fees.

Bill Avery, president of Avery Associates indicates, “This occasionally happens but we remain confident in our ability to find a great Police Chief for the City of Paso Robles.”

The new search is expected to take approximately 5 months. Acting Police Chief Robert Burton has agreed to continue to lead the Department.
