Atascadero City Clerk hosts forum on running for public office

–The Atascadero City Clerk’s office conducted a forum Tuesday night entitled the “Nuts and Bolts of Running for Office.”

City Clerk Lara Christensen spoke to over a dozen people about the paperwork for candidates and submission of various documents.

Lara explained what forms are needed by the city to qualify a candidate for the ballot.
Among those in attendance, Planning Commissioner Heather Newsom and her three-week-old daughter, Abigail.

Heather Newsom may run for Arascadero City Council.

Candidates wanting to submit paperwork have fast-approaching deadlines. The window for the registration of candidates opens in late July.

The mayor and two council seats are up for reelection.

Christensen said she may be out on maternity leave when the election takes place in November.
