Every month a local restaurant hosts a “Beer Night” in downtown Paso Robles where beers of the world are paired with gourmet dishes. About a week ago the chef of “Beer Night” through out a twist with the an exotic surprise course – Cricket Tacos.
“It was like a crispy cheese taco,” said David Agueda, who joined friends for the dinner at Estrella Restaurant on 12th Street in Paso Robles. He said everyone at his table ate the tacos except one.
It might have been the first time insect gastronomy has hit the gourmet dining scene in Paso Robles.
A hostess at Estrella said the cricket tacos are not available on the regular menu, but were crafted just for the beer night.
