Paso Robles Grand Tasting Tour greets Los Angeles wine lovers

Paso Robles Grand Tasting Tour

PASO GRAND TOUR 033Take 40 of Paso Robles’ best wineries, put them together under one roof, pouring an assortment of over 150 different wines, have over 300 wine lovers come, and what do you get?  An evening filled with lots of happy people, laughter, smiles, fun and the enjoyment of re-discovering their favorite Paso wines and wineries, discovering Paso wines for the first time or just savoring wines from this unique wine producing region.

The 8th Annual Paso Robles Grand Tasting Tour rolled into the Los Angeles area on February 27th to showcase some of the best of Paso Robles’ award winning wines. The Los Angeles Tour was the second stop, following San Diego, and will finish up in San Francisco in April.

February 27th saw several area restaurants highlighting various winemakers, with specially paired menus. The following day the finale of the Grand Tour took place at the Culver City Book Bindery, in the new Culver City Arts District.

The venue opened in the early afternoon to food and wine industry professionals and press, followed in the evening with a 2-1/2 hour tasting tour for wine aficionados.  Peacock Cheese Company and The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills provided a delicious assortment of cheeses, charcuterie and canapes to compliment and pair with the wine experience.

Sponsored by the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance, the Culver City event drew hundreds of wine lovers who experienced the labors of love from wineries such as Adelaida, Alta Colina, Caliza, Chateau Margene, Cypher, Daou, Eberle, Epoch, Hunt,  J. Lohr, L’Aventure, Nicora, and dozens of other world class Paso Robles producers.

Paso Robles has carved out a unique niche by producing world class Rhone wines, and has been rewarded with praise and high ratings by both wine lovers and the industry as well.  Although primarily recognized for their Rhones, Paso Robles is quickly establishing a reputation for producing elite Cabernet and Bordeaux blends.  Because of the unique Paso terroir and micro climates, there are several Paso wineries producing Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux blends that rival any such wines in the state.

Many of the members of the newly formed Paso Cab Collective, (such as Chateau Margene, Daou, Justin, L’Aventure, and others) had the opportunity to showcase and pour an impressive array of their Cabernets and blends at this great event.

Needless to say…it was a grand evening for all who attended.  Future wine events, sponsored by Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance will be posted on their website:  www.pasowine.com.

If you missed this year’s event, sign up for email alerts on upcoming wine tasting events, and make a point of looking for the 2014 Paso Grand Tasting Tour!    Cheers!
