Paso Robles History Museum reopens April 16, introduces new Wine History Gallery 

Paso Robles Historical Society

–The Paso Robles Historical Society has announced the reopening of the Paso Robles History Museum on Fri, April 16 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Carnegie Library in the Downtown City Park. The museum was closed in March 2020 due to COVID-19 closures, reopened briefly in November, but closed again when the state ordered another business closure.

The April 16 opening introduces the new Wine History Gallery presenting a view of the early history of California, the history of California viticulture, and the development of vineyards and wineries in San Luis Obispo County. The exhibit in the gallery has been developed with the assistance and resources of the Wine History Project of San Luis Obispo County.

The Paso Robles Historical Society operates the Paso Robles History Museum in the Carnegie Library and curates an extensive collection of permanent exhibits, documents, photographs, and other artifacts representing the full spectrum of the area’s history from the earliest inhabitants to current times. The Virginia Peterson Library, also in the museum, is the society’s research center dedicated to a diverse collection of materials that document the history of Paso Robles and the surrounding area.

The Paso Robles Historical Society is holding a fundraising yard sale April 23-24 and is also seeking volunteers and docents for all aspects of the museum, including greeting and assisting visitors, basic filing, computer skills, and assisting with research requests, organizing old documents, and maps, and helping at special events.
