Paso Robles police host ‘National Night Out’ Aug. 5 

National Night OutAn exciting change is happening this year when the citizens of Paso Robles join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the 31st annual “National Night Out” crime and drug prevention event, the Paso Robles Police Department announced in a statement.

“We all have ownership in our community and feel we can better reach out to our citizens by joining them in this relaxed atmosphere,” said Lt. Tim Murphy in the statement. “There is a direct relationship between the livability of a community and to what degree its citizens choose to be involved. We applaud all of you who are involved in our community, and encourage others to do the same. You make a difference!”

National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored by the Paso Robles Police Department, will involve over 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. Territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world.

National Night Out is an annual event designed to strengthen our communities by encouraging neighborhoods to engage in stronger relationships with each other and with their local law enforcement partners.

This event will be held on Tuesday, August 5th from 6-8 p.m. in front of the Public Safety Center at 900 Park Street. The event will include police vehicle displays, police K9 demonstrations, and opportunities for community members to meet the staff of the Paso Robles Police Department. Refreshments will be provided-join us for a night out against crime.

National Night Out is designed to:

  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
  • Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
  • Strengthen police-community partnerships;
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know that our community is organized and fighting back; and
  • It’s also the perfect opportunity to get to know your neighbors and police officers even better.
