Message from the Paso Robles Police Department

The holiday season is a time of celebration with friends and family. It can also be a time when busy people become careless and vulnerable to theft and other holiday crimes. The Paso Robles Police Department would like to take this opportunity to remind the community to take the time to apply the following holiday crime prevention measures.

Shopping is a popular activity during the holiday season. Criminals look for opportunities and count on distractions and inattention of shoppers to commit their crimes. It is very important to stay aware of your surroundings, don’t use your cell phone while walking in parking lots, don’t flash large amounts of cash, carry a purse or shoulder bag close to your body. Be sure to know where your wallet is at all times.

When you are out shopping don’t leave any valuables- gifts, cell phones, purses, lap tops, cameras or back packs in open view in your car. Take valuables with you or lock them in your trunk. Protect your ID and credit card information, before leaving the store keep track of your bags and packages. Be sure not to buy more than you can carry. Ask for help and don’t hesitate to report any suspicious activities to the police or security guard.
