Police pursuit forces lockdown of students
Students at George H. Flamson Middle School and Georgia Brown Elementary School were locked down in their class rooms at about 12:20 p.m. today, according to reports.
The lockdown or “shelter in place” was initiated because police were in pursuit of a suspect in a nearby neighborhood. The lockdown lasted five minutes. The incident was reported by Georgia Brown Elementary School.
Police offers made a “pedestrian contact” with a male on 32nd Street near Oak St., according to Lt. Tim Murphy with the Paso Robles Police Department. The male fled police and officers believed he had a handgun, he said. School district security heard the report and “out of an abundance of caution” initiated a “shelter in place,” he said. Police later located a BB gun in the vicinity, but not the male who fled, he said.
The two schools are located on the north end of town. Flamson Middle School is located at 2405 Spring St, Georgia Brown Elementary School is located at 525 36th Street.
