Sept. 7: Carolina folk-rocker Dylan Nicholson
Dylan Nicholson headlines Songwriters At Play
Show is Sept. 7 at Vines on the Marycrest
Carolina folk-rocker Dylan Nicholson is the featured performer at the Songwriters At Play showcase at Vines on the Marycrest in Paso Robles on Sept. 7, 2013.
A native of North Carolina, Dylan Nicholson names fellow Carolinian Doc Watson as one of his heaviest influences. Dylan appreciates storytelling songs, so it’s no wonder he also includes Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, and John Prine on his list of musical heroes. Recently relocated to Morro Bay, Dylan is writing and performing his own songs, anthems for the working man, Southern folk-rock ballads in a style that is his own.
Performing a guest set will be Nashville-based songwriter Nicolette Hayford. Her music is an amalgam of 50-60s soul and blues, 70s singer-songwriters, and her own generation’s quirks and sensibilities. Nicolette’s debut CD was released in March 2013, an eight-song collection of her original songs. Nicolette is currently performing around the country and she was recently featured on the syndicated TV program Inside Music Row.
Other special guests include Karoline Hausted, Holly Ann Phillips, Cheyenne McDonald. Show runs 1-4pm at Vines on the Marycrest, 5076 Mustard Creek Rd., Paso Robles, (805) 237-0378. No cover charge, all ages are welcome.
