Shots fired in gang-related altercation

Suspect fires gun shots on Oak St. early Sunday morning

Early Sunday morning, Nov. 17, at about 12:30 a.m., the Paso Robles Police Department responded to multiple 911 calls of gun shots being fired in the 2800 block of Oak Street, police report.

Officers arrived in the area and found that a parked vehicle and a residence had been struck by several shots. The apparent target of the shooting, a 21-year-old male, told officers that he was shot at several times by an unknown person who he was not able to identify.

Other witnesses reported seeing a black passenger vehicle, possibly a Honda, occupied by four Hispanic males prior to the shooting. The occupants of the vehicle apparently exchanged words with the 21-year-old victim 15 minutes prior to the shooting. The family of the victim admitted to officers that this incident was due to the victim’s gang affiliation. There were no other witnesses to the actual shooting who have come forward. There were no injuries and no suspects have been identified.

The Paso Robles Police Department’s Special Enforcement Team is investigating the shooting and is utilizing resources from the San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Department Gang Task Force and the San Luis Obispo Probation Department. The investigation is being treated as a gang involved incident. Investigators will continue to interview witnesses and gather evidence to identify potential suspects.
