Small earthquake strikes north of Paso Robles 

small earthquakeA small earthquake shook the Salinas Valley north of Paso Robles this morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reports.

The USGS says a 4.4-magnitude earthquake rumbled at 5:21 a.m. The epicenter of the tremor was 17 miles northeast of King City. The depth of the quake was 6 miles, the USGS reports.

Several resident of South Monterey County reported feeling the quake, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The small earthquake fell along the active San Andreas Fault. The October 17, 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake was the most recent major earthquake associated with the San Andreas Fault.
