Student Robotics Expo returns to San Luis Obispo Sept. 30
–Softec, the Central Coast’s premier software and technology association, invites families to attend the 11th Annual Student Robotics Expo.
On Monday, Sept. 30 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Alex Madonna Inn Expo Center world renown local high school robotics clubs will demonstrate their competitive robots. Also, this spectacular event features junior high and elementary robotics teams who use educational robotic leagues to advance STEM in schools.
Meet local organizations who continue to support Robotics and Technology in education including: The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) & Cal Poly Robotics club, SLO Makerspace, and Cuesta College and the 4-H Club of SLO. Enjoy interactive stations for hands-on experiences with drones, robots, virtual reality, and other special activities. They will also have a special visit from SLO County Sheriff Bomb Squad; they will be demonstrating the capabilities of their bomb handling robot.
The drone arena with obstacle course is sponsored by Digital West and is sure to provide additional thrills; Race your drone through the course and compete for the best time. Electric Vehicles will be on display in the top parking lot. If you have an EV, bring it and you will be able to park in this lot as well.
Thanks to corporate sponsors, Softec will be distributing over $13,000 in scholarships to student clubs at the event. Softec has sponsored high school robotics teams since 2004 giving more than $75,000 of grants to date.
Attendees may purchase food from Ta-Dahh Specialty Foods (Kid & Family Friendly food at reasonable prices) at the main entrance to the Expo Center during the event. Food service will begin at 5 p.m.
