In partnership with Cuesta College and the Central Coast Writer’s Conference, the Paso Robles City Library is proud to present an evening with local travel and wine author Tom Wilmer on Thursday, September 4, at 6 p.m. in the Library Conference Room.

“My journalism career and curiosity about the world started while working as a copy boy for the Wall Street Journal. I’ve logged over a million miles in my travels across the globe, from Morocco to China, up to the Arctic Circle and across Southern Africa,” states Tom on his blog, www.thomascwilmer.com.

Host of the weekly NPR Podcast, “Journeys of Discovery with Tom Wilmer,” his multiple awardwinning on-air radio travel show Audiolog has aired over National Public Radio affiliate stations KCBX, KSBX & KNBX (Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Monterey Counties) since 1989.

Audiolog has featured numerous California vintners, including Jerry Lohr, Doug Meador, Jim Concannon, and Gary Eberle. His latest wine book is The Wine Seeker’s Guide to Livermore Valley. A 2013 recipient of the Lowell Thomas Travel Journalist Award and the incoming president of the Bay Area Travel Writers, Thomas C. Wilmer’s writings and photography have appeared in numerous North American lifestyle magazines and more than 40 newspapers (Knight Ridder Wire Service), as well as London based Prestige Magazine.

Wilmer was a Travel Columnist for Central Coast Magazine in California from its inception through 2008. He is also author of the travel book, Romancing the Coast — Romantic Inns and Resorts Along the California Coast, and California Coast Getaways. Thomas C. Wilmer will receive the 2014 Central Coast Writers Conference Lillian Dean Inspiration Award at the 30th annual conference, September 19-20 at Cuesta College (San Luis Obispo campus).

This program is appropriate for all ages. For more information, visit www.prcity.com/library or call (805) 237-3870.
