Winery scores with Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc

One of Paso Robles’ hottest players on the wine scene, Villa San-Juliette, scored Best of Class, two gold, silver, and bronze medals at the 11th Annual Central Coast Wine Competition.

The event, which features over 600 wines from more than 150 wineries and is the single largest wine evaluation recognizing wines produced exclusively on California’s Central Coast, was adjudicated by three Master Sommeliers, one Master of Wine, four major California wine writers and several other members of the wine industry, trade and media. Notable wine judges and tastemakers included author Doug Frost (MS and MW), Mike Dunne (wine columnist for The Sacramento Bee), Madeline Triffon (MS), wine writers Michael Cervin and Laurie Daniel.

Villa San-Juliette Vineyard & Winery’s winning wines included:

  • 2010 Villa San-Juliette Petit Verdot – Gold – Best of Petit Verdot, 94 Points
  • 2010 Villa San-Juliette Cabernet Franc – Gold, 93 Points
  • 2011 Villa San-Juliette Cabernet Sauv– Silver
  • 2011 Villa San-Juliette Albarino – Silver
  • 2012 Villa San-Juliette Rosé of Zinfandel – Bronze
  • 2009 Villa San-Juliette Malbec – Bronze

“We’re thrilled that our wines have been so well received by such respected wine judges. We believe this is an early example of the potential our vineyards and look forward to future vintages,” said Villa San-Juliette COO, Hillary Trout.

All gold medal-winning wines will be displayed at five fairs this summer, including the California Mid-State Fair in the Mission Square, the Monterey County Fair, the San Benito County Fair, the Santa Barbara County Fair, and the Ventura County Fair. Extended publicity and exposure is also awarded to medal-winning wines as they will be featured in spotlight promotions at participating Albertsons locations.
