Western Bonanza in town this weekend
The 30th Western Bonanza starts Friday in Paso Robles and runs through Sunday at the Paso Robles Event Center. This year’s theme is “Decades of Dedication.”
The Western Bonanza is the largest student-run livestock show in the United States. Participants range from ages nine to 21. Students will be showing off their cattle, hogs, sheep, and goats. There is also a trade show at the event.
Last year the show attracted over 500 exhibitors and totaled 1,812 head of steers, heifers, lambs, hogs and meat goats.
The Western Bonanza began in 1985 as a senior project at Cal Poly, and it is now run by Cal Poly students.
