Wines of the West tasting room debuts in Paso Robles

The new tasting room is unique in that it allows guests to taste a wide variety of wines in one unconventional location.

Paso Robles’ newest tasting location offers guests an atypical place to sample wine from four different brands

–The Central Coast’s newest wine hideout, Wines of the West, is officially open along scenic Highway 46 West in Paso Robles. The new tasting room is unique in that it allows guests to taste a wide variety of wines in one unconventional location. Wines of the West will be joined at the site by Heirloom restaurant, who have decided to set down roots at the location and will be serving their California farm-fresh food seven days a week.

Wines of the West is a new frontier of tasting rooms, designed to feel like two distinct tasting experiences. The front area provides a more traditional setting, serving Clayhouse Wines and Purple Cowboy. The back area, known as the CAN-tina, is a more casual and eclectic tasting space, focused on serving canned wines from If You See Kay and Alloy. Grapes for all four brands are sourced exclusively from Paso Robles AVA (with the exception of the Purple Cowboy sparkling wine) and crafted by a team of local winemakers committed to showcasing the best of the area.

Wine choices include Rhône varietals from Clayhouse Wines, where the focus is on small-bin fermentations. Not to be missed is the Petite Sirah, made from the oldest such vines on the Central Coast. Purple Cowboy focuses on Bordeaux varietals and pays homage to the true winemaker rodeo cowboys. Legend has it that their teeth were stained purple from tasting as they crafted their blends. If You See Kay wines are an ode to the unconventional, focusing on non-traditional varietals in cans and bottles. This unorthodox brand is paired in the CAN-tina with Alloy Wine Works. Bringing together edgy blends and unique lots that are hand-harvested, Alloy is canned wine that “reflects the inventive spirit of Paso Robles.”

Wines of the West is open daily from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. and is located at 3750 Highway 46, Paso Robles, CA 93446. Visit pasowinesofthewest.com for more information.
